Circusoc’s been busy of late, we’ve performed for thousands over the past few months, here’s a few highlights.

In July, we performed for the Australian Medical Students’ Association Annual Conference, and then half a week later, for the Australian Law Students’ Association Annual Conference. Both were big events and we were probably seen by over 2000 people across the two nights.

We were characters from Charlie and the Chocolate factory, we were roamers, we had a teeterboard, fire, a sword and acrobalance.

Then last week, Circusoc performed at Sydney Town Hall for the Australian Market and Social Research Society. This gig allowed Circusoc to show its aerial feats, as we had high flying performers wowing an audience along to the music stylings of Sam Moran — otherwise known as the Yellow Wiggle! All out recent shows were lots of fun and we’ve had some great responses. We’re looking forwards to our upcoming gigs, first up… the Army.

Performers at the Commonwealth Games

Five Circusoc fire twirlers performed marvelously at the closing ceremony for the Commonwealth games in Delhi recently. Our performers received good time on international television, they looked great, and their skills were beamed onto the Zeppelin in the middle of the stadium.

We’re incredibly proud of them.

Performance at the Officers Spring Ball

Circusoc performed tonight for around 650 guests at the Australian Defence Forces’ Spring Ball at Victoria Barracks.

Our fire performers provided a powerful entrance as guests arrived, leaving a great first impression for the evenining.

Later, Circusoc performed a death defying teeterboard routine and sword swallowing act.

We were very pleased to contribute to the evening. We hope to get photos up soon.

Madame Mercury Bids Farewell

Circusoc has produced another stunning show which we are all very proud of. Madame Mercury’s Marvelous Menagerie has finished its two night run, with a great combined audience truly enjoying the performances.

Special thanks go to our producer and director, Siri and Tallulah; as well as our sponsors, Furr, Pastizzi’s cafe and Arc.

Semester Two 2010

Another semester of learning is almost upon us, and Circusoc is celebrating the only way it knows how – by putting on a show!

Madame Mercury’s Marvellous Menagerie will be on at The Roundhouse on Thu Aug 5th and Fri Aug 6th at 7:00pm. It is promosing to be a wonderful show, so I urge you all to book or buy tickets!

Tickets will also be available on the Library Lawn from Monday to Thursday next week, the week after, and the week after that from 10am-3pm. (Want to volunteer to sell tickets? Talk to me (Michael Berman) with facebook, email, or even real life!

I look forward to seeing you all on Monday at 5pm on the Physics Lawn!

End of Semester Party

7pm-1am

Theme: 80s old-skool hectic fluoro rock’n'rave circus mustached masquerade! You get fabulous bonus points and extra odd looks if you manage to combine ALL of them, but we’ll be happy if you combine two or three (Good luck!)

$10 Circusoc members, $8 Arc members.

You will get different coloured wristbands depending on whether you are over or under eighteen. To be allowed to drink beverages of an alcoholic nature you must show your I.D. to Tom or Gonzo when you pay.

No drinking for under-18s (obviously). If you do not have the appropriately coloured wristband and we find you drinking, you will be asked to leave. If you drink before arriving you will also be asked to leave.

There will be a bar tab! It will include soft drinks, beer and house wines and will be staggered over the evening. You are welcome to buy your own drinks at other times

Some finger food is provided, but you may want to get a meal before.

There are also heaps of pubs nearby to continue partying once we leave Forresters

If you want, feel free to bring your iPod to plug into the sound system. If you don’t, Tom’s music will prevail! He says that his music includes Bass Hunter and Barbie Girl. You have been warned.

Finally, be good, be respectful and help make this night fun for all who attend.

It’ll be a great night!
